The Scene: Mid spring 2010, in a large backyard in the Hudson Valley. The residents of the house on the property are still -- even in late May -- recovering from the most damaging snowstorm in decades: branches and trees down all over the property. In the rear of the yard, at the edge of the woods, some 300 feet from the road, is an old dog run. It's mostly boxed in by chain link fence that has been there so long that trees on which it was attached have grown around it.
The dog run? It has new residents ... and they aren't canine.
